October 28, 2020Two Creedmoor Police Lieutenants Recognized by Crime Stoppers for Outstanding Service
The North Carolina Crime Stoppers Association and Granville County Crime Stoppers have recognized two of Creedmoor’s finest as North Carolina Coordinator of the Year and Granville County Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.
Lt. Ricky Cates was recognized as the Coordinator of the Year Award by the North Carolina Crime Stoppers Association. Crime Stoppers coordinators facilitate obtaining information pertaining to unsolved crimes and wanted fugitives through publicity in mass media and reward incentives. The Crime Stoppers coordinator then channels this information from anonymous sources to the investigator assigned to the case.
Lt. Tommy Wallace was recognized as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by Granville County Crime Stoppers. Each year, Granville County Crime Stoppers names one officer from each law enforcement agency serving in Granville County as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Lt. Wallace was recognized not just for his accomplishments in the past year, but for his exemplary career in law enforcement.
“Both Lt. Cates and Lt. Wallace exemplify what all those who enter law enforcement strive to be. These two gentlemen are dedicated to protecting and serving the Creedmoor community, and work tirelessly to support this department and protect our citizens every day,” said Police Chief Keith King. “I can’t think of two more deserving individuals, and I am thrilled to see them recognized at both the county and state levels.”
“I want to commend Lt. Cates and Lt. Wallace for all they do to make Creedmoor and Granville County a safe place to live,” said Creedmoor Mayor and Crime Stoppers Board of Directors member Bobby Wheeler. “Both of these officers are dedicated to their careers in law enforcement and exemplify the character and dedication that we look for on the Crime Stoppers Board when choosing our award recipients each year.”
